Description

SH43-865, Island Batik's exclusive fabrics for Alaska are 100% cotton and 42-44" wide. (Flag, green wolf, bear)

The art of batik, a wax-resist fabric dyeing method, has been practiced for centuries in Indonesia and is an integral part of life and religious ceremony. Batik is a way of life for the Indonesian people and it is reflected in the many facets of rural and cultural living. The intimate knowledge of the batik process is what makes Indonesian artists some of the most talented artisans in the world.  One of the beauties of batiks is that no two pieces are identical, each one has it's own character.  Irregularities in the fabrics are part of it's charm and not considered flaws.

Island Batik’s main office and distribution center is located in Carlsbad, Southern California. This is where the imported fabric arrives and is distributed to individually owned quilt and fabric stores all over the United States and abroad.

The philosophy of Island Batik has always been to participate in the success, enrichment and development of the community in which we manufacture our batik.  The company currently employs over 200 artisans and workers who transform their top quality base cloth into the spectacular designs and colors that Island Batik is well known for.
